A remote island setting, an expanse of natural surroundings, a colorful collection of old and new friends and a suggestion to head up to the party at the tennis court…
what could be more inviting?
Our friends have been the loving oyster{s} that coerced grains of sand into a luminous pearl. To celebrate this, and Mr. Oysters special birthday, they had quite a féte on the island recently. The ambiance they achieved with all of the comforting and casual details created a relaxed and fun~loving evening for all.
Before I even reached all of the wonderful delights at the tennis court I was enchanted by many things, including one of my favorite little bends on summer entertaining, cocktails {or desserts, or salads, or candles, or anything} in canning jars…
a set fire and cutout cans {<– DIY} for late night lighting and warmth…
a hint of what was ahead…
a basket of colorful umbrellas, just in case..
a rack of woolen blankets, ready and waiting around the firepit…
a rusty roaster in which the pork was prepared…
a stopby at their indoor~outdoor gathering spot, built around the stone fireplace, which was the only thing remaining after the original structure was lost to fire years ago…
picnic tables simply topped with potted geraniums and candles…
and a bucket of freshly caught prawns brought by a guest.
Then there was the tennis court, furnished with an inviting combination of homey features in this wide open space….
including the lounge…
where slipcovered furniture, heat lamps and comfy cushions invited guests to gather and chat before and after dinner.
The Scotch Bar, a nod to the birthday boys favorite bev,
choose your favorite hooch and sip it from a jar,
keeping it casual on the island..
gardens to explore, a fun band, back~up singer opportunities, local cuisine, friends gathering at candlelit tables…
what more could an island girl ask for?
hoping you are having a splendid summer,

It was so fun catching up with you and Barbara last night – it almost felt like I had escaped to France a few weeks early…

Love the ladder and blankets, well, the whole thing really! Looks like fun. I agree with what you and Jeanne said about our little "escape" last night – I could get used to that on a regular basis. 🙂
