Happy Easter everyone! I hope you have a wonderful day and some happy hunting and Springtime frolics with your friends and family today.
If you are so inspired, it’s not too late to whip up a few festive flower arrangements for your home or to bring to your hostess. The key components for these arrangements can be found at most grocery stores.
After lining a basket {or any container} with foil or plastic covered paper, you can put some soil {or another filler} on the bottom, then pack the container full of potted bulbs/flowers {pull the plants out of the pot to create a fuller and more lush look}. Here the PNW, we have plenty of moss, so I like to use that for covering the soil and the paper liner, it makes the arrangement look so very verdant. If you don’t have harvestable moss, you can buy dry moss at the grocery or nursery, it will look better if you soak it in water before using it.
Otherwise, get creative, you could use dried green lentils, or split peas, jelly beans, stones, or even peanuts, hazelnuts or walnuts in the shell.
I pruned a couple of of lichen covered branches that didn’t make it through the winter from a tree in my yard,
and tied them together with twine to create the look of a rustic basket handle…
what do you think? does it look too wild??
A foil wrapped chocolate bunny,
and a basket of candy coated chocolate eggs enhanced the Easter theme.
I picked up these butterflies at a craft store a few years ago, their wire stems made it easy to make it look like they’re just fluttering by after wrapping the wire around the branches to attach them.
I felt so honored that Ladies Home Journal used some of my other favorite Springtime flower ideas in their piece on simple spring makeover ideas for the home.
Here again, carrots from the grocery store add a refreshing punch of orange to this massive display of elegant and long lasting lilies. The carrot tops add nice shape and greenery.
