Not a bad place to dry ones skins!!
Our mode of transportation across the Alps will be touring or rondenee skis. These skis are outfitted with bindings which allow the skier to release and elevate the heel of the boot, so they can glide across flat surfaces and more easily climb up steep terrain. The toe of the boot is held in with pins, allowing the boot to rotate up and down with each step.
Mohair “skins” are attached at the tip of the ski, and run the length of the ski.
The skins provide traction, which allows the skier to climb up hills.
