One of the most splendid highlights of skiing in Europe are all of the charming huts and lodges where one can pause, refresh, revive, relax and enjoy one of my favorite things: elegant food in a rustic setting. Be it at a simple little espresso hut or wine bar along the slopes or one of the grander restaurants, like Paradiso Club Saint Moritz…
each establishment has it’s own unique personality, ambiance and offerings.
On sunny days one can sit outside to take in the stunning views and fresh alpine air with cozy blankets and fleece covered seats to keep you warm.
The music deck at Paradiso club has the tunes spinning all through lunch, fresh flowers, amusing service and a menu of local and international cuisine with a twist…
and a great wine list!
On the lower deck families stop for long lunches, the kids have fun in the snow as the adults finish their espresso and digestifs.
Both floors offer sweeping alpine views to the most extreme throughout the meals.
When the storms roll in the party moves inside to the Mountain Club. Cozy fires and upholstery makes it an ideal place to warm up and get out of the elements.
Massive windows look out over the lake and valley below, and the DJ or piano player keeps the spirits high.
A cappuccino with a little sweet on the side is the perfect way to finish the meal.
Afterwards, lounge chairs on platforms entice one to lean back, enjoy the views and soak up the sun just a little longer before slipping on the sticks and heading back down the mountain.
We obliged.
The Paradiso is open most of the year, in the summer you can access it by hiking, during the winter months everyone arrives on skis or snowshoes, here’s how to get to Paradiso.
I hope you are having a great weekend.
