Today I want to bring you to the Altitude Bar, the most splendid hotel bar in which I’ve ever paused and sipped. It wasn’t just the fabulous drinks {mine a Smokey Paloma mezcal, grapefruit juice, lime juice, and sparkling water… just beyond!!} Recipe to follow.
It wasn’t just the extravagant flower arrangements…
or the oversized fireplace mantel that seems to tell a tale.
I found all of the the boozy celebrity quotes on the superior drink menu to be quite entertaining.
“I only drink Champagne on two occasions, When I’m in love and when I’m not.” Coco Chanel
“I saw a werewolf drinking a Piña Colada at Trader Vic’s. His hair was perfect.” ~Martha Stout
But, what I think really pushed this space to the top of my list was the coordination of shades of amber and ruby upholstered walls, furniture and draperies that perfectly insulated the conversations, laughs and whispers from every corner of the room.
“YOUR ATTITUDE, NOT YOUR APTITUDE, WILL DETERMINE YOUR ALTITUDE”. ~Zig Ziglar.
“Drinkin’ Rum before 10am makes you a pirate, not an alcoholic.” ~Earl Dibbles JR
“The problem with the world is that everyone is a few drinks behind.” ~Humphrey Bogart
“To Gin or not to Gin?” Silly Question
“Cooking with love provides food for the soul.” ~Valerie McKeehan
“I drink to make other people more interesting.” ~Ernest Hemingway
Here’s a Smoky Paloma recipe from the My Studio Kitchen blog:

- 2 ounces of fresh squeezed grapefruit juice
- Splash of club soda or Italian grapefruit soda

Preparation
- Take 1/2 of lime, run around the lip of the glass then roll the rim in a plate of the chili & lime seasoning.
