For the final two days of our Mountaintrek in Italy we moved to the Grand Hotel Favorita in Sorrento. We arrived earlier than planned because torrential rains, thunder and lightning prevented us from completing Santa Maria del Castello or Path of two Provinces hike. Thankfully, our vans, which were on their way to Sorrento with our luggage were able to turn around to pick us up. It was a cold and soggy drive to Sorrento.
We found the lovely, lemony courtyard with the mosaic tile coves to be quite welcoming. From here we were scheduled to take a day excursion to Capri and then take The Sirenuse Trail {the hike I was most interested in!}.
Even more welcoming were our hot showers and clean, crisply made beds and the blue sky scenes on the ceilings above.
The decor was a blend of traditional grandeur and eclectic Italian style.
I’ve always had a fondness for Chesterfield sofas and they had plentiful arrangements of these
all white with pale blue accents, quite beautiful and eclectic yet very clean.
The location of The Favorita is ideal for exploring Sorrento. It is just a few blocks from the historical center with a pedestrian walkway filled with shops, restaurants and gourmet stores. It is just a block off the sea of Sorrento and the path above the Bay of Naples.
