Despite the chilling cold and gray weather we’ve had here in the PNW (though I shouldn’t complain, we’ve had only one small funnel cloud sighting, and it didn’t touch down), the tulips in our fertile Skagit Valley are in their full splendor!
My favorites are the stunningly large and colorful French Tulips.

A visit to the Skagit Valley to see the tulips in bloom is a popular excursion to take this month in Washington state, the fields are an amazing wash of color.

If you are not up for the drive north, the next best thing is to visit the Pike Place market in Seattle where buckets and buckets of these lovelies are on display and for sale.

While the prices are a little more than those listed below, if you can’t make it to the market, the fabulous Skagit Valley growers will ship flowers directly to you (or your mom). Click on tulips to see how to have these colossal beauties shipped to one you love {and it’s splendid to love oneself!}.

Of course, I had to bring a couple dozen home to have on display for Easter dinner.

Spectacular as they are en masses, I am always fascinated to watch each individual blossom open boldly, yet delicately.

They are so gorgeous and grand in size they almost don’t look real.

Man O man, I'm a sucker for tulips. I think the only flower that makes me swoon more is a peony. If I had seen tulips for a dollar a stem, I may have bought them out!! Lovely. M.

So pretty. Aren't we lucky to live in a place where there's so much beauty everyone you look? Even if the weather is a little… challenging. But didn't you just love Sunday?
I'm enjoying a bunch of white and green parrot tulips that are brightening my kitchen counter right now. I love spring and tulip time!

How beautiful!! When we lived in the city, there was a wonderful florist near us and my husband used to occasional bring me French tulips – I just love them – an amazing feat of nature!
