…it was so fun to draw the names of readers, from near and far. I always find it fascinating to look at the “stats” for Splendid Market and learn that there are people all over the world reading this blog. Drawing names, and then learning more about the location of readers across the country, and across the globe, was really very thrilling.
Thank you all for all of your visits to the market. I am hoping to get to know you all better…please feel introduce yourself, leave comments and send questions anytime. It wouldn’t be a splendid market without you.
So, here is some information about the winners and the gifts {this time around}:
The package that is flying the furthest is one filled with Splendid Market post-it notes sent to Jane in Hobart, Australia – who has a lovely blog called Life on Planet Baby. In the blog, Jane discusses the joys and challenges of raising 3 children under age 5. Take a visit and read about Jane’s life with her “pixies”. If you have young children, you may enjoy sharing stories with Jane. One of my favorite things about the blogging world is having a chance to see the similarities and differences of everyday ordinary (and sometimes extraordinary) life from all over the world.
It was my pleasure to personally deliver one of the totes and a packet of Splendid Market post-its to beautiful Pam at her charming shop Red Ticking, right in my neighborhood!
Pam and I had become friends in the “blogosphere”, which made it even more special to meet her in person. Her shop is full of unique treasures. I could spend hours strolling through, absorbing the intrinsic beauty and charm of each item. Pam has an extensive background in the textile industry, so it is not surprising that shelves of the most beautiful vintage French fabrics dominate one side of the store.
Beyond the textiles, one will find an intriguing collection of antiques, many of which have a bend towards France and the sea (a couple of my favorite themes).
Look at this rugged chandelier made of chunks of driftwood.
Pam has just received a big shipment of pieces from Europe and the east coast. I can’t wait to visit Red Ticking again to see her latest collection on display. She also offers many things on first dibs.
I loved this mirror – the frame is a collage of pieces of architectural trim, softened by years of lovely living.
In Pam’s blog, among other things, she features many photographs of the most comfortable homes with lovely, relaxed decor; along with her brief, insightful and inspiring thoughts about life. She also posts information about her items that are available on1st Dibs. Enjoy a visit by clicking on Red Ticking, please tell her I said “hello”.
In the giveaway were sets of Splendid market.com post-it notes; a bottle of Pico Verde, the room fragrance from Antica Farmacista, (which smells just like the fig grove I visited in the south of France this summer); along with some souvenirs from my travels: a bottle of Liquore di Mirto De Domu, from Sardegna, Italy; and 2 tote bags from the Giacometti-Maeght museum in St. Paul de Vence, France.
The post-it notes have taken flight and shall soon land in the mailboxes belonging to:
Jane Green, Sandra Jonas, Linda Myhrvold, Wendy Paisley, Delphine Campbell, Marion Richards, Barbara Malone, Alice Bender, Martin Silver, Anne Skrobut, Jane Paley, Constance Lucier, Lee Rolfe, Eloise Evans, Anne Phelps, Edward Pronovost, Margery Jones, Adam Delkin and Leslie Smith.
The luscious bottle of Liquore do Mirto drifted south to Serena, who writes a great blog on her life in Marin County, CA called Urban Farmhouse, click on the name to visit. Serena just opened a beautiful home decor store in the town of Ross. I can’t wait to visit. All of the details are on her blog.
Fluttering off to Shannon, a teacher and mother of two beautiful boys, is the other tote bag from the Giacommeti-Maeght museum in St. Paul de Vence, France (along with, of course, the Splendid Market post-it notes). I hope the tote comes in handy for many fun trips to the park!
Thank you again, to all of you splendid readers, for keeping the buzz going around the market!
If you haven’t responded with your address yet — it’s not too late, send your mailing address to ebh@splendidmarket.com, we’ll get the goods out soon.

Oh, Emily! Thanks ever so much – I am so delighted, both to win my first ever giveaway and then for you to mention my new little blog in faraway Tasmania, Australia. You are the sweetest thing. The pixies will be so thrilled when the envelope arrives – I will show them your photo so they know who sent it. I relish reading your blog – you have such a lovely eye for capturing moments and colours. J x
