Some Dark Drama for Halloween
Birds and bats are an easy way to create a naturally eerie scene in your home — you can make the display as big or small as you like.
Inside, or out there is something about a flock of blackbirds and crows staring back at you, that makes one feel a little…unsettled.
Bare branches make a perfect perch, prune branches from your trees or buy branches from your florists or grocery store. The branches can be placed in a bucket or vase (weight the bucket with rocks or water bottles).
Or, gnarled corkscrew willow branches can be placed directly on the table, intertwined. These feathered friends are widely available at craft stores or click on creatures for a great selection on line. They have wires coming out of their feet which can be used to attach them to the branches.
Lights or candles under the display will create a spooky show of shadows on the walls and ceilings.
Add some drama to your entry by inviting a flock of bats in to stay. There are many choices of bats on the market, for a great selection on line click on creatures. We like to use a variety of sizes.
We hammered clear thumbtacks into the beams which cover the walkway at the market. The bats were hung from the tacks using thin silver paddle wire (filament or fishing line works well too).
