Everything does sound better in French, doesn’t it? Even toilet paper.

So tell me — what does your Toilet Tissue Seal look like? Oval? Round? A chic little ellipse that whispers je ne sais quoi? You don’t think you have one? Oh, but you do. And I’m about to blow your delightful little mind when I tell you where it is.

I discovered the art of the TTS (Toilet Tissue Seal, naturally) thanks to my housekeeper in France. I walked into my apartment after her first visit and every single roll of toilet paper had been finished with a beautiful little fold and a pressed seal. I stood there in my bathroom like I was in a hotel I couldn’t afford.

I immediately did what any reasonable person would do: went down a rabbit hole on Amazon.fr searching for toilet paper stamps, embossers, presses, seals — ideally with a flower, or ooh la la, a monogrammed H to really cement my brand. Reader, there was nothing. Absolutely nothing.

So I asked her. And her answer stopped me cold.

The seal was my faucet.
A slightly damp faucet. That’s it. That’s the whole secret. She folds the tissue, presses it against the faucet head, and voilà — instant elegance. To recreate: run the tap for a second, tap the faucet head with your hand to lose any drips, then press that roll right up against it. Magnifique.

The tissue fold is simple: fold one half of a single sheet diagonally up to the perforation line.

Then fold the other half up and over the first to create a triangle.

Then press away!
She also does elaborate variations with additional sheets fan~folded that I will never master and deeply respect.
I encourage you to explore the faucets in your home and see what each one offers. This one is from my kitchen sink,

and this one is from another bathroom sink.

The best part? I’ve turned this into a stealth mission. I do it to the toilet paper at restaurants, at friends’ houses, anywhere I can. People lose their minds trying to figure out who’s doing it and how. It has become, genuinely, one of my greatest joys.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a pack of tissue rolls to prep.
Bonne chance — and may your bathroom always feel like a four-star hotel.
Love this Emileee – you make our lives a little more elegant, even our tp 🙂
