What a crazy world we are living in. I hope you find some find away to have a Happy Halloween considering all of the conditions. I thought of a favorite quote of mine that I’ve modified that I’d like to share.
Heap on the wood! The wind is chill; But let it whistle as it will, We’ll keep our Halloween scary still. This is actually a Christmas quote by Sir Walter Scott
But thinking of that made me determined to enjoy our traditional Halloween feast and to be safe we will be having it outside.
We’ll bundle up, sit by the fires, watch the blue moon rise and stay safe.
To do this I’ve transformed our outdoor sitting area into more of a dining/living room with heaters, cushy pillows and warm, furry blankets.
Family portraits adorn the walls. I put a “black light” bulb in this lamp to add some affect after dark.
I’ll put appetizers out on the dining table to start and this will be the bar.
Past family pets will be there with us.
This grove of citrus trees with sparkling orange lights will help to enclose the space and block the wind if it kicks up.
For COVID safe dessert guests will choose their own caramel apple. Which would you choose Snickers bar, Heath bar, standard caramel or caramel and milk chocolate with sea salt are the options?
Do you want a quick tutorial on making the dining table centerpiece? First I fitted the antique Chinese bowl with a piece of soaked Oasis, cut to size.
My first step is always to create a base of greens, I clipped branches of Strawberry bush and placed them around the perimeter of the bowl.
Then filled in the top with more branches.
The second step is flowers, I placed in the open spaces between the branches.
For step 3, I like to add something different, almost whimsical, I found these two interesting specimens to add some color and texture to the bouquet.
And there we go…
I hope you have a Happy Halloween and enjoy the Blue Moon tonight. Xoxo,
