Happy New Year and Auld Lange Syne from our lodge to yours…
We said farewell to 2019 with a with some dear friends and family…
enjoying a casual raclette dinner under a giant bouquet of camellias loaded with buds just beginning to burst open.
It’s with a bit of melancholy that I face the time to undeck the halls, a feeling that made me think of the classic New Years Eve anthem written by Robert Burns back in 1788, Auld Lang Syne. {<<~~~click on the title for some background music} Its song that romanticises bygone times and optimistically yearns for the future.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne.
For auld lang syne, my jo,
For auld lang syne.
We’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

We’ll be packing away the stars and ornaments soon.
We will write our thank you notes and enjoy our gifts.
While I’m feeling sad about closing this chapter, I am looking forward for what the future will bring.
I am thankful for the natural beauty of all the fruits and flowers that we will watch as they continue their cycle of life here in our abode.
and I will cherish all of the Christmas memories and auld lang syne {times gone by} with family and friends, both old and new.
I am also thankful for all of you, my dear readers and I wish you a Happy New Year!
