I’m working on a Splendid little Gift Guide, featuring a few of my favorite things, that I’m looking forward to posting just after Thanksgiving. In general, I don’t believe in early Christmas hype, and I don’t like the commercialization that creeps up earlier and earlier each year. I like to enjoy the calm and quiet of Thanksgiving before getting too wound up about the next holiday.
But, I’m making a wee exception to that philosophy today, because I’ve come across some very cool gifts that can be hand customized, and I want to tell you about them now so you can get a head start on the process if you see something you like for the good boys and girls on your list.
The other day my daughter and I were invited to visit Ebbets Field Flannels in Seattle’s Pioneer Square, as we walked in the store we were amazed to see the array of great looking sportsware. As we dug in deeper, we found the store to be filled with quality made athletic attire with a becoming, classic aesthetic. It’s a brilliant place where cool and traditional tastes collide, here you can find gifts that equally please your most traditional sports fan, your hautest fashionista and most everyone in between.
Christmas seems to be coming early for my daughter, once she pulled on this stunning navy Satin Jacket made of vintage cotton backed Satin from the 60’s, there was no turning back.
Her mind was made up to have the jacket, but then she needed to figure out how she wanted to have it customized. There were so many options dancing in her head.
In the store {and online} these jackets come in a variety of colors, including a gorgeous copper. Each jacket is a shiny blank slate to be customized using ones imagination and Ebbet’s traditional, hand crafted flannel designs.
We took a look around the store to come up with some ideas.
We strolled through the selection of Authentic Flannel Baseball Jerseys. They offer over 400 different minor league baseball jerseys, using traditional materials and original designs. This will make a great gift for any baseball fan. One can mix and match logos with jersey styles and personalize them with dates, initials, nicknames, mascots and patches.
Or your sport may prefer to display an original logo of their business, blog, or favorite saying in felt lettering, be it ever so classic or currently cool.

They also have jerseys made from that luxurious cotton backed satin, which would be my choice for a custom jersey.
Either material would make a sumptuous layer for the stylish outdoors~woman on your list.

and the satin would make a stunning cover~up for the sporty~chic sort.

Plenty of traditional baseball jackets can be found made of all wool or with leather sleeves.
These too can be completely customized with team names, business names, favorite songs, cities.
Then there are the hats, but believe me, these are not your common baseball caps. Their hats are made of traditional wool broadcloth based on a pattern from 1954 and fit very nicely because of the number of panels in the design. Anyone who receives one of these will know it is a special topper.
They are constantly rotating through designs to choose from, here’s the current array.
These can also be customized with initials, patches,

Here are some of the patches at the store that can be added to the garments.

After viewing a store full of inspiration, she did come up with a great design.
I’ll be sharing it with you soon, as well as some other fun ready~to~wear from Ebbets.
As is posted on the wall of the shop:
and, did I mention?
It’s all Made in America.
Oh, and if you are still at a loss as to what to give, there’s always the 100% authentic gift certificates.
The store is located at 408 Occidental Avenue South in Seattle’s Pioneer Square.
I hope you’ll treat yourself to a visit.

The NFL women's gear has stepped itself WAY up too. It's actually good looking. Big hug from Texas…

Bonjour Emily. I see we both have shopping on our minds this week 🙂 Cool store. I live on Seattle's Eastside, and I have never heard of it. Thanks for the tip! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

Veronique, I would love to catch up with you next time you're on this side of the lake, let me know.
Marsha, I'm going to look into that. Ebbets is planning on making some clothes based on the women's baseball teams, early tennis dresses and sweaters. Sporty, casual wearable things.
Happy Thanksgiving to you both.

Hello,
Great Jacket!
What size is the jacket and how tall is the young lady wearing it?
My daughter would love this too!
