What a charming evening we enjoyed for a Sunday night birthday dinner. The garden flowers and an eclectic collection of elements on the table set a wonderful ambiance and made me feel like we were sitting at the work table in an elegant gardeners cottage. The informality made everyone feel at ease immediately.
Nothing matched, but it all harmonized beautifully.
Cups filled with garden flowers were clustered and scattered along the weathered wood table. You’ll see another shot of that incredible rose at the end, but what I loved most in this cluster is the little bunch of greens to the right of the mighty rose.
This cup was filled with a sweet little nestling of strawberry stems, including tiny berries and blossoms. What a beautiful way to bring the garden to the table.
An antique candelabra, dripping with wax, added a statuesque element to the table.
Adding to the charm, our resident Hollywood actor “published” a little story of his friendship with the birthday boy and then read it aloud, playing each of their roles with different accents in an Oscar worthy performance.
Other eclectic details that contributed to this delightfully casual table were mix-matched colorful napkins tied with garden twine, and pretty colorful tiles used as coasters beneath basketed glasses. At each place setting there was a framed photo of the birthday boy, his gift at the end of the evening.
After admiring all of the framed shots, we set them up in the middle of the table, adding to the homeys setting and honoring our birthday boy.
Wine corks let us know where to sit.
Have you seen any inspiring table settings lately??
Here’s to summer dining!
