Patrick Doughtery huts

December 5, 2010 By splendid Leave a Comment

more twig lovin’
It is always nice to find a kindred spirit on the topic of twigs, and there is no doubt in my mind that Patick Doughtery has a massive passion for twigs and branches. Mr. Dougherty is know for designing incredible wild and whimsical structures using sticks and twigs all over the world.

In honor of the 100 year anniversary of the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, he created a marvelous installation – which compelled us to cross the bridge for a look. The hut was amazing to see and well worth a trip to Brooklyn.

He worked with a team of volunteers to harvest loads of saplings {already scheduled for removal}, to create this twisted, topsy-turvy abode.
The huts are all interlinked and have funky windows and doorways.
They are sturdy and cozy and looked stunning against the blue November sky.
Click on stickworks to see more of his marvelous creations (like these).
The Installation at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden will be up for a year.
