Butterscotch Puddino
When a friend pleaded with me to take her tickets to the Chanel fashion show this summer, I couldn’t say no. The show was held at the delightful
Novelty Hill/ Januik winery, in our little wine country, just outside of Seattle.
The runway was simply spectacular, we sat in and amongst the steel “barrels”of wine. The room was flooded with intense blue lights.
A very “cool” setting to be sure, especially when the lights went down.
But, it was still hot outside. I have to say, I have a very hard time getting excited about fashions for future seasons, I guess I’m more of a “live in the moment” kind of gal. In fact, I oftentimes resent the fashion industry (and other industries) rushing us through the seasons as they do (yes, I understand, they have to) but still, seeing furry frocks in the summer just doesn’t compel me to buy.
But now that the weather has cooled, I am finally ready to share these shots. Given the chilly weather we’re experiencing, I must admit, I wouldn’t mind bundling up in some of these fabulous fashions now. Maybe a few remnants are still available in the stores (oooh, maybe they are on sale!)
The collection was very much about fur,
and ice.

And right now, these fur boots and lush, cozy suits are looking quite wearable..

this one would be a little hard to pull off..

I really loved this brown tweed suit with the matching hot waterbottle cover. Aside from the gal with these fabulous bare legs,

all of the models wore these cute tights which look like they are made of crocheted mohair (I hope they weren’t too itchy!).

I left without a single stitch of Chanel, not a furry boot, ice cube bag or even a pair of mohair stockings.
But I did take home a great party dessert idea!
After the show they passed many sweet bits. My favorite was the “puddino”, a few bites of butterscotch pudding served in individual shot glasses.

What a comforting, easy-to-make-in-advance dessert! Coming soon: one fabulous butterscotch pudding recipe.
When this collection was shown at the Grand Palais in Paris, they brought in 240 tons of ice to make massive iceburgs, this set the proper temperature. Karl Lagerfeld called the show “global cooling” and said it was a “triumph for fake fur”, see the interview, the iceburgs and highlights of the “hairy affair” (KL) by clicking on the arrow below.
The show was presented by Nordstrom’s, proceeds from the Seattle show benefitted The Henry Art Gallery and the Pacific Northwest Ballet.
Très chic, très hip, très sexy!
Love it!
