To charming Sewickley we roamed to attend the holiday party of a dear friend, and what a party it was. Sewickley is just outside of Pittsburg. This area is filled with historical homes and plenty of surrounding, pastural lands.
All of the beautifully lit trees welcomed us in, as did “fido”.
In the library, where drinks were served, a tree laden with ornaments stood proudly in a gilded pot.
We loved the wild looking pine garland that “decked” the banister.
Welcome to the diningroom of delight. The beautiful murals, an original part of the home, are trimmed with rich olive green paint. Isn’t the window seat inviting? Definitely a place where one would like to linger a little longer.
To accent the green walls, the tables were set with a deep aubergine cloth and topped a bouquet which included anenomes, roses and tulips in rich shades of purple-ish.
Festive red and green glassybabies graced the tables as did bejeweled snowflake ornaments. The Stags Leap Savignon Blanc was delicious with the Five Lily (onion) soup. The filet with vegetables was quite tender and nice.
But, I think our favorite item on the menu that night was a Buffalo Chicken wonton, served with a dipping sauce and celery sticks. I’m sure this was an original creation by Chef Jacob of Angel Food, we’re hoping he will share the recipe with us. We’ll let you know if we have any luck!
To get people into the groove after dinner, the angelic Harmonettes sang a few jazzy tunes, click here and here to enjoy the performances and get a peek at the crowd and that cozy, paneled library.
next post, a couple of parties on “the coast”.
