Planning a beach party or clambake this summer?
You can help set the tone in advanced by adding a few extra details to your invitation. These invitations have been slipped into a plastic sleeve with decorations to create a beach scene in an envelope.
The larger “Clambake” invitation was letterpress printed on stiff card stock. The smaller invites were printed at a print shop, cut to size and then painted.
The cards were painted with shades of blue watercolor paint and lots of water to “wash” the strokes of paint across the paper. They were left outside to dry to create a weathered texture.
The theme for the party for the small square invitations was “french beach club”, so there are two invitations, placed in the sleeve back to back, one in French, one in English.
The invitations were slipped into plastic sleeves.
Into each plastic sleeve a spoonful of sand was poured, along with dried seaweed and a few other miniature versions of what one might find while beachcombing.
