A Splendid Sunday..
What a super Sunday it was at the Market..
FIRST..
Splendid Slim (Paley) used one of our images in her hilarious and beautiful post on a color combo we all love, (she called it Tangerine and Peacock, I called it Turquoise and Mandarin) ~ either way the day began with a gorgeous flurry of blue and orange images and enthusiasm.
Thank you Slim!
THEN..
Foodista featured Splendid Market and our recipe on Preserved Limes on their site. I was “bowled” over by this — what an honor, thank you Foodista! If you haven’t been there yet, click over to Foodista, it is a great resource for any recipe you can imagine.
All of the Splendid Market recipes are on Foodista, and at the bottom of each of our recipe posts we offer a Foodista button on which you can click on to get a printable version of the SM recipe, courtesy of Foodista.
How splendid is that??
Preserved Limes |
Their timing was perfect, since this is the peak season for citrus, and the ideal time to preserve lemons and limes to use all year long. I keep jars of them in the back of my refrigerator, it is so nice to have them on hand to add a little zest to my meals when needed. The tangy oil is also a fabulous flavor enhancer.
In addition to preserving limes — I just love to preserve lemons, in particular, Meyer’s Lemons. Click on the title below to learn how.

While all of this was going on, I kept getting distracted by my little field of Muscari, the flowers were popping open right before my eyes!
Muscari are commonly known as Grape Hyacinths, because the flowers look like upside down bunches of grapes.
As you may have noticed, I have an ongoing crush on the spring flowers which come from bulbs and I find it absolutely impossible to resist bringing them inside and “forcing” them to bloom early. Of all of the bulb flowers, I do believe I love the Muscari the most…I guess it’s that beautiful shade of blue.

THEN..
I went to a fun super bowl party. I brought a few bouquets along — I hope I used the right colors.
Yes, it was a splendid Sunday indeed..the only thing that would have made it an eeeensie bit better would be if I had gone to sleep here,
