Rolling on the river…

The tranquility of the gentle motor up the Irrawaddy river was quite a change of pace from bustling Bangkok. After flying into Yangon, the former capital of Myanmar or Burma, we boarded the R/V Sanctuary Anada and started sailing upstream towards Mandalay.

We had some incredible adventures along the way which I can’t wait to share with you.

But for today, I want to invite you to sit back and relax with me to take in the scenery along the way.

It was fascinating to lounge on the top deck or on our own sweet little balconies to watch the colorful boats go by and observe how people live and work on this river. This boat, like many on the river is dredging for cement.

Farming communities could be see on the banks of the river, peanuts are a major crop.
