Most of these big mansions are decorated to the 9’s and will be hosting big parties with tents and seating on on the lawn for their lucky friends and family.
I’m so excited, I’ve just booked my ticket to visit New Orleans again this spring for Mardi Gras. This annual celebration sometimes brings negative connotations to some who are not experienced. I remember I used to have reservations about this famous month-long party.
But, when I visited this amazing city for Mardi Gras a couple of years ago I saw that up in The Garden District, where most of the parades roll, Mardi Gras is very much a family celebration steeped in rich cultural traditions.
In front of the grand mansions that line parade routes in The Garden Districts familys build chairs made out of ladders so the kids can see the parades and catch the beads, groups share tents where they cook and serve food and drinks and they watch the floats roll by.
HERE is the parade schedule for this year. In addition to the parades there is SO much to do in New Orleans. I am going to be posting some of my favorite places to visit and things to do soon, so stay tuned.
