Happy Independence Day dear readers!
Have you ever read The Language of Flowers? Talk about independence! It’s a lovely modern day novel about The Secret Language of Flowers {another great book}.
I was astounded to find this incredible bouquet in my courtyard this afternoon, what a thoughtful gift for someone who loves flowers as much as I do. In the card they wished us a happy 4th of July and as I considered this beautifully bulky bouquet I realized that one of my favorite florists in the world, Bruce, at Martha Harris had created a fabulous floral fireworks show for me. So, of course, I immediately ran to my bodega to find some vintage “Old Glories” to stick into the mix.
I loved the blue spiky First Glory Veronica bursting up to the sky,
like those bright, curving fireworks that always brighten up the presentation with their swirling sounds.
I admired the deep red Cattails from the Chenille plant and bright greens dripping down to the lake
to keep the show going and reflect upon the water.
For the main attraction, there is an explosion of colorful, fragrant roses in full bloom, hefty fluffs of hydrangeas, erupting dahlias and spikes of fragrant stock…
Truly a work of art, Merci M&B, MH & B!
I wish you a very happy day with friends, family, traditions and a celebration of Independence.
