It was the colors in the blooms that first caught my eye, they seemed to be displaying every shade of the fall leaves I had seen looming over head and flying by me as I drove to the store that day.
Next I noticed the healthy green buds on the secondary flower stems pushing up beside the dramatic blooms, and I realized I’d hit a lazy ladies burnished gold…
I had found the key components for creating an easy and spectacular living seasonal arrangement for our home that will probably stay healthy and beautiful through Thanksgiving.
Here’s how you can make something similar for your abode….
When I pulled the orchids from their pots the poor things were terribly root bound so I soaked them in water to loosen up the roots a bit. Next I lined my trusty old silver punch bowl with the clear plastic that was wrapped around the orchid plants. After loosening up the roots I positioned the plants in the punch bowl and supported them with soil and bark dust.
Ferns from the Big Easy party were the perfect filler for the base of the arrangement.
To create a more harmonious support system and add some height and drama I replaced the bamboo support sticks with Curly Willow branches that blended with the flowers beautifully, securing them with twine covered wire.
To create a lush, polished look I packed fresh green moss all around the base of the arrangement, covering any soil or roots.
Next, I added a few petite pumpkins to the patch and brought the beauty of fall indoors to be enjoyed for weeks to come.
Are the fall leaves putting on a spectacular show in your area?
