Shades of yellow are not used prominently in most parts of the world, but not so in Vietnam,
here, yellow symbolizes wealth, prosperity, royalty and change.
Which is why regal shades of this color can be found on so many of the official buildings and parks of Hanoi.
Red symbolizes happiness, love, luck and celebration.
Well, I know I loved studying the layers of these colors that are so important to this culture, seeing this brought me a great deal of contented happiness.
If walls could talk I am sure this one would have many stories as to what they’d seen as their colors changed over the years.

Dear Emily, as an artist these meaningful and aesthetically pleasing palettes of gorgeous saturated colors are a dream. I am so thrilled you are having these experiences. You really could write a book and hope that you do! Have you read "Educating Alice: Adventures of a Curious Woman"? I think you would really enjoy it!

Karena, thank you much for your comment, it means a great deal more considering the source. I will order the book now.
Thank you all for the kind comments on the images, this land is so thick and rich with culture and history, I think that the images convey this better than words.
