Great skiing skills are not a necessity for having fun on the slopes in Zermatt. This is definitely a place where people come to play, so it’s not surprising that one of the greatest sports in town is l’aprés ski. As you are skiing down to the village from the Sunnegga slopes, many a location will beckon. After you’ve passed up a few options, and are feeling bit of remorse, not to mention thirst, The Champagne Bar is nearly impossible to resist. This charming little hut is towards the end of the trail to the village {making it easy to walk UP TO as well, and there’s a path!} So, an authentic aprés ski experience can be had without even skiing!
The rustic benches on the deck are topped with cushions and reindeer hides, so everyone can snuggle in and stay warm while taking in yet another great view of the Matterhorn {sorry, Iphone shot}, click on the setting for a much better, and very quick visual.
The cute Cuban owner is infectiously friendly and effervescent and is having so much fun popping open bottles of champagne and serving gluhwein {seasoned hot wine, you can make with red or white, click on the name to find a good, basic recipe}with generous spikes of earthy amaretto {do try this at home, it is incredible!},
that a fun time is guaranteed for all. For more evidence that Zermatt is the Zenith of the Alps, click on Simonseeks.

Hi, Emily – Hope you are doing fabulous.
Look at all that snow! Divine. It is very cold in DC, but no snow. Still waiting here.
I've not been to Zermatt, but was in St. Moritz many years ago. I do think Switzerland is very beautiful.
Warm greetings,
Loi
