Massive white mountains were a stark contrast to this gentle country setting.
Eager to get to our destination, we decided to stop at an autoroute restaurant for lunch. Here, we had surprisingly superb pannini sandwiches and dreamy cappucinos.
We made it to Cervino, Italy in about 4 hours. Here my husband dropped my son and I, we had to take the gondola to the top of Italy, and ski down the otherside (Switzerland) in order to make it for check-in time at our chalet apartment on time! Mr. Splendide and my daughter drove another 3 hours to Switzerland where they took a train to this charming pedesterian alpine village.
Skiing today, I was assured that the effort was well worth it. Zermatt offers miles of seemingly endless, groomed, ego building runs. The runs are surrounded with stunning views. On the runs, there are many charming restaurants, like Enzians…. they offer a pretty good view too.
