The sun coaxed me out to the courtyard today to work on the beds. As I planted and pruned, arranged, rearranged and watered, I felt a yearning to share the space and sunshine.
So I asked a couple of neighborhood moms to drop in for a glass of rosé. I love the concept of “drink’s” a quick, spontaneous little get together to transition from day to evening together.

And what to serve with rosé? Well, I’ve been fixated on the Cauliflower Popcorn at Grace Kitchen in Seattle lately, so I thought I’d come up with a version of my own.
After trimming all of the florets from a head of Cauliflower and washing them I preheated the oven to 350 degrees, then tossed them in a mix of:
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
a couple of grinds of pepper
2 cloves of garlic, very coarsely chopped
Then into a baking tray went, along with peeled garlic cloves from 2 heads of garlic.
After roasting this mix for about an hour {shaking the tray a couple of times}, the florets came out tender, caramelized and flavorful and the garlic was soft, earthy and satisfying
{oh, and did I mention, healthy?}.
But it needed a little something more, so I quickly turned to my favorite secret ingredient.
A heaping teaspoon {or so} of Chili Garlic Sauce blended with about 1/2 cup of good quality mayonnaise {Best Foods/ Hellmans}
became the perfect dip for this fabulous finger food.
We sat in the courtyard and enjoyed the last of the sun before everyone moved on to their other engagements.
Here’s to the end of the school year!

Emily, Aren't spontaneous get togethers the best! Love your wine glasses and the cauliflower looks delish!

I just love afternoon cocktails in the garden! And such a gourmet treat with your rose' I will be bookmarking that dip for future reference. Looks like it would be fantastic with lots of things! M.
I am not a cauliflower fan, but this looks amazing enough to try. I am major fan of the garlic chili sauce, and of course only Hellmans!
I love the sweet chili too. The tubes are amazing and have taken over the refrigerator!
Thank you again, Emily, for a great recipe.
Happy MOnday.

Wish there was a mom like you in my neighborhood…I'd be right over. Am definitely going to try this as it sounds amazing and fits right into my back to reality diet.
