The roaming bouquet
We left the big city with as many flowers as we could carry onto the ferry..
Once on the island into town we went. Thank goodness for the flower find at the Farmer’s Market..
I bumped into my friend and renown gardener, Emily Reid at the Fourth of July parade. She had a few flowers to spare..
A quick stop at the hardware store for canning jars, my favorite vase on the island..
what a pleasant surprise to also find these delightful Burning Hearts (Dicentras). I snipped off all of the dramatic red blooms — will plant the plants later!!
Time to start building — the blue hydrangeas and lacy viburnums were interwoven to create a base of color and support.
I trimmed the ends, so the bunches were supported by the edge of the vases, the stems don’t touch the bottom of the containers.
From above I could see any “holes” in the arrangements — and started adding color. Once they were fully loaded we packed them into the car and headed to the party. What a splendid setting.
Have you ever seen such a tranquil lake? Yes, that’s the reflection!
Emilys’ daisies were perfect for a spontaneous stemless bouquet on the bar.
Three cheers for the red, white and blue!
Have a splendid day!
