100 stems of happiness
To make the arrangement, lie the flowers down on a safe cutting surface lining up the bend of each flowers at the same level.
For some reason, daffodils can seem like silly flowers, maybe it’s the name or the unusual trumpet shaped blossom…..but daffodils displayed en masse can make a seriously elegant bouquet.
Early spring is the time to go big on daffodils, pick up 100 stems from the grocery store to make this cheerful arrangement. The mellow-yellow, sweet fragrance subtly whispers the arrival of spring!
Some stores sell daffodils “dry”, they may look a little sickly without being in water, but once they get a good drink they should pop open with reckless abandonment.
To make the arrangement, lie the flowers down on a safe cutting surface lining up the bend of each flowers at the same level.
Use a utility knife to slice the ends off the stems making the flowers all the same height.
Each stem should be cut at least 1/2 an inch to allow it to absorb water.Collect the stems and put all of the flowers in a footed vase, or a silver wine bucket.
Check through the arrangement to make sure each flower has room to expand. Turn the flower heads “out”. If you have some flowers which are considerably shorter, use them to fill in the middle section, they can rest on the other taller flowers, just make sure the cut stem is in the water.
What a difference a day makes!
In a day or two the daffodils will pop open to create a splendid display.
You can speed up the process by placing the arrangement in a warmer location, slow it down by keeping it cooler.
