summer dreaming and what a difference a shade makes…

Okay, okay, I know we need to live in the moment, and I usually do. But with all due respect to the glories of spring, my dreams have skipped ahead to summer, mainly because of some incredible summery items I found at World Market recently.
These blue and white cotton napkins immediately made me think of summer days. I’m imagining how they will look after a couple of washes, soft, beachy, rumpled, and perfectly casual in that lovely blue and white way. There are more options to choose from, but these were my 4 favorites.

They remind me of one of the ultimate summer hang~outs, Club 55, where long lunches beneath trees and canopies are enhanced with plenty of mix-matched blue and white linens, with that “just washed” smell.
This club is the epitome of my most favorite dining situation,
“elegant food in a rustic setting”.

In fact they store the linens in baskets that are lashed to the tree trunks, what savvy campers!
In the winter all of the beach club structures in France are packed up, I would imagine that they may be starting to “unpack” all of the clubs along the Med just about now.

Many of the napkins at Club 55 have more of a Provençal look.

The china at Le Club 55 is decorated with sea creature motifs. One of the most famous dishes is the Crudité. A large cork bowl (just like the one holding the napkins in the second image from the top) comes to the table loaded with vegetables, along with a knife, fork and cutting board, anchovy dip and boiled eggs. Diners get to work paring and slicing vegetables to their hearts content, dipping and  chatting…

Now on to that other shade.
Believe me, I was more than happy to absorb this pair of Ralph Lauren large blue and white ginger jar lamps, but the shades they were wearing were not quite right for my family room.
I’ve been hunting around for a replacement for awhile, something a little more casual and beachy, but it’s hard to find distinctive larger shades. When I saw these Natural Basket shades for just $39.95 at World Market, I had a great feeling that they would be perfect.

And they are!
Hope you find some great finds this weekend.
p.s. Here’s a similar lamp on Overstock.com
p.p.s Did I mention these napkins from World Market are only $3.99 each?!
They are sold individually in the stores or in sets of 4 on line. Click on the name of the napkin style below the images above to find them on~line.
