public pebbles….

Many of the beach clubs are closing down as the tourist counts dwindle along the Cote d’Azur. But you don’t need a club to enjoy the sea. Near most any of the beach clubs, and all along this coastline one can stretch out a towel to enjoy a swim or to relax in the sun for a bit. My favorite public beach is Petite Afrique in Beauileu~sur~mer, the water is very warm, it’s protected from the winds and has a fine, pea sized pebble.

I keep my beach bag packed at all times, so that if I need to cool off during the day I have everything I need, sunscreen, bikini, book, snorkel, water, fouta. I LOVE using these “foutas” instead of a terry towel. They are thinner, lighter, roll up compactly and dry more quickly. They also make a great sarong. They sell them in a multitude of colors at many of the local markets.

There are also plenty of beach bags to choose from…

  • So many pretty bright colors to choose from. I'll take an orange fouta and a bright pink beach bag, please. Looks like you are having such fun, Emily! XOXO

  • Love those markets! My best buy was a fabulous market basket. It is one of the baskets you fill with produce at Hediard in Paris. I did a little begging to get them to sell me one.

    Of course I missed many opportunities… one cannot buy EVERYTHING!!

    I love reading about your adventure!
